While there is a flurry of activity and announcements leading up to Band Day on Sept. 13th, we want to take an opportunity to spotlight some other developments and news across our organization:

🎺Area Playing Events Recap
On July 26th, Austin-area members gathered to celebrate the life of Leah Raye Sexton Mabry, the first female percussionist in Longhorn Band (1956-1963). It was a special morning honoring a trailblazer in our organization’s history. Leah Raye inspired countless women to join the ranks of LHB, including her own daughter Angie (‘89-’93) who is pictured to the left of the bass drum.
Across the state, LHAB has been performing at Texas Exes New Student Send-Offs. Members in the DFW (Denton County), Houston (Montgomery County), and San Antonio (Comal County) areas have partnered with local Texas Exes Chapters to celebrate the beginning of a new generation of UT students.
These events have become a fun tradition for LHAB members to gather and wish incoming Longhorns well as they make their way onto the 40 Acres 🎉

The official 2025 Friday Night Tailgate shirt is now for sale on the LHAB Shop! Place your order by 8/29 to pick up at Band Day Weekend.
All proceeds from FNT shirts will benefit the LHAB Charitable Fund, which goes towards scholarships for current LHB students! We also wish to extend a special thanks to our sponsor Print Your Cause for providing the shirts.
If you want to ship your FNT shirt (or any other merch available on the shop) and want it to arrive in time for Band Day, please allow 2 weeks for order processing and delivery.
The FNT shirt will be available for purchase on the LHAB Shop through the end of October.
