Annual ‘Band Day’
Registration for Band Day closed on October 9th.
We hope you plan to participate in this year’s Longhorn Alumni Band Reunion on October 14 and 15, 2022! We will be retiring Bertha and unveiling the new Bertha during halftime when the Longhorns play Iowa State on Saturday. We don’t know the kick-off time yet but have provided three likely Saturday schedules in this Blast. Everything provided here is important, so please read on carefully and completely … and check back at LHAB.org/Band Day for future updates.
We are looking forward to a hugely attended in-person Longhorn Alumni Band Day this year! If you haven’t already done so, please start making arrangements and encouraging your friends to attend. You don’t want to miss the fellowship, Bertha’s retirement, the game, or the halftime show that will feature LHB and LHAB.
We can’t wait to see everyone back on the 40 Acres! #Hookem #BTHOOIS

Halftime Performance
It’s been three long years since we last took the field so this will be an exciting year! LHB will perform first. Then LHAB will perform. LHB will join LHAB on the field, and we will jointly perform a special arrangement as a farewell salute to Big Bertha and to introduce Bertha II.
Here is a preview of our halftime show we encourage all members to watch before rehearsal.

A big thanks to Dr. Croomes, Don Haynes, Brian Frock, Jack Green, Damian Gonzalez, Drew Dickey, Geof Sloan, and JP Kirksey for their special contributions.

Friday Annual Meeting & Rehearsal
The LHAB Annual Meeting and Rehearsal will be in the area where LHB sits during football games near the northeast corner of the stands inside Darrel K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday, October 14, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Use Gate 25 on the northeast side of the stadium to get there.
We are expecting an especially big Band Day Reunion this year. If you need to rent an instrument, flag or silk we recommend you do that ASAP so that volunteers can have them ready for you. And please pay attention to instructions (below) about mouthpieces, drum sticks, etc. that you will need to bring.
Instrument check-out on Friday will be available from 5:00 to 6:50 in the basement of the Music Building. There is no instrument check-in following the Friday night rehearsal – you will be responsible for keeping it safe, bringing it on Saturday, and returning it after the game.
Pick up Name Tag, BBQ tickets, guest tickets, and LHAB Membership level perks at the registration tables when entering the Music Building.
Saturday Rehearsal
LHAB will rehearse in the Bubble on Saturday. Please take a shuttle or walk from the Band Hall to the Bubble. LHAB will rehearse, we’ll have a combined rehearsal with LHB, then LHB will rehearse. LHAB will not provide water for the rehearsal so bring your own if you want water. Section Leaders will be utilized, so if you’re interested in serving, even if you weren’t a Section Leader in LHB, attend the meeting and help us run a crisp rehearsal.
Children or other family members are not allowed on the field during a rehearsal or performance, and that includes the Bubble. If you bring children to Alumni Band Weekend, please arrange for their care. LHAB cannot be responsible for child care. And only members of LHB or LHAB are allowed on the field during rehearsals and performances.
Saturday Meal
With the kick-off occurring at 11:00 a.m., and to accommodate serving LHAB in the time allotted, the meal menu is being adjusted. We’ll serve breakfast tacos, coffee, water, and orange juice. For those with dietary restrictions, please do not eat the tortilla. The contens of the taco allow for vegan restrictions. For LHAB that renewed their membership at Calypso, Wabash, Grandioso, or Big Bertha levels, your Band Day registration will reflect the number of BBQ meals received.
Limited Mobility Assistance
We have a few alumni who will require assistance from the Speedway Garage to the Music Building and the Bubble. For those desiring, please use the LHAB shuttle buses to move between locations. There will be signage at the pick-up locations and on the buses so LHAB members can recognize the shuttle service.
Anyone who requires assistance and will NOT be participating in the March Down may go directly to Gate 16 at the glass doors to the Hall of Honor approximately one (1) hour prior to kick-off. Your LHAB vest is your “ticket” in. You will be met at the Gate by LHAB members Joe and Ruth Dahlstrom and Dick and Judy Robinson to escort you to the elevators and to your seats.
As before, for those with mobility impairments who prefer to not march, but would like to play along at halftime, we will have an area delineated on the field where you may be located and not interfere with LHB or game officials.
Band Day Fees
If you graduated or left LHB in 2020, 2021, or 2022 your LHAB membership dues and Band Day registration are FREE. While LHAB dues and Band Day registration fees are waived for recent graduates, you will still need to register for Band Day and purchase BBQ, guest tickets, or other LHAB Band Day items during your online registration because we need to know how many people and items to plan for. Online registration closes at midnight Central Time on 10/9/22. For LHAB that renewed their membership at the Grandioso or Big Bertha levels, your Band Day fee is also waived.
If you would like to make a change to your membership level and/or payment, please use the Contact Us form (https://secure.lhab.org/contact/) on the LHAB website. If you and your spouse are both in LHAB, you will both need to choose your level and renew individually unless one spouse selects the Wabash level or higher. If a spouse renews at the Wabash level or higher, the renewal for the linked spouse will be applied and updated shortly after your membership renewal is complete. Each spouse will need to register independently for Band Day. When either spouse registers for Band Day, they will see info about the other spouse and whether they have renewed and/or registered yet with their purchases.
Below is a list of available LHAB membership levels and their benefits.

REFUND POLICY
All payments for annual membership dues are final. Band Day registration can be canceled up until the deadline for online registration. Cancellations up until the deadline will be refunded their payments excluding dues and credit card processing fees. Cancellations after the deadline for online registration will not be refunded.
Instrument Cases & Storage
There will be NO storage of any kind on Saturday. Please leave anything you do not plan to bring into the stadium in your car or at home (including horn cases). There is a clear bag policy in effect in the stadium. Please plan accordingly.

In the event of loss, theft, or damage beyond repair of the instrument and/or flag while in my possession, I agree to reimburse LHAB/LHB for any repairs or replacement to the instrument and/or flag assigned to me as a Renter. I agree to return the LHAB/LHB instrument and/or flag as required by the due date given at time of check-out by LHAB representative.

Guest Seating & Tickets
Note: Guest tickets are sold out.
LHAB and their guests are sitting in the north end zone upper deck. Athletics has allotted 1100 tickets to LHAB and its guests. Guest tickets are $35 per ticket. Please be aware of the guest ticket policy (see below) and please note: guest tickets are for immediate family members only.

Family, Child, and Guest Policy
Please understand as you prepare to bring your family and guests to Alumni Band Day that there are some policies that LHAB cannot change due to liability issues and UT Athletics policy. While we strive to maintain a great relationship with athletics and the university, we understand that these policies can be challenging for parents with small children.
- Children are not allowed on the field, during LHAB rehearsals or a performance.
- Children or other family members are not allowed in the formation while marching to the stadium.
Thank you so much for understanding and adhering to these policies.
