From The Blast · September 2025
We officially have over 460 alumni registered to march together at halftime in just 8 days’ time, when Texas takes on the UTEP Miners in DKR-TMS – it’s going to be a great weekend full of celebrating Mr. DiNino!!
We want to take a moment and thank those who answered our call for volunteers – we are in better shape, but could still use help in the following areas. Click the Volunteer Sign-Up link above to find a time and place to give back. LHAB needs you and we appreciate your time and dedication to making this an amazing Band Day Weekend!
- Clarinet and Percussion SLs
- Friday night member check-in and instrument check-out (new time slot added – 8:30pm – 9pm, due to the early start time on Saturday)
- Saturday morning instrument/Big Flag/Silk check-out at The Bubble
- Post-game instrument/Big Flag check-in at the music building
All the fun begins this Sunday evening with our Virtual Annual Business Meeting. Check out all the details below for the meeting and a recap of the events we have going on next Friday, 9/12, including some exciting updates to the Friday Night Tailgate 🎉
Stay tuned tomorrow for more info on Saturday of Band Day Weekend!

Our annual business meeting will be held via live-stream this Sunday, 9/7, from 6pm – 7:30pm CDT. You can watch via YouTube or Facebook. Bookmark these links for easy access on Sunday evening.
All members are invited to join us as we share our accomplishments over the past year and look forward to another successful year supporting Longhorn Band, including swearing in our new leadership team for 2025-2026! 🤘 The meeting will feature special guests from UT Development, The Butler School of Music, and University Bands.

A statue of Vincent R. DiNino, legendary director emeritus, will be publicly unveiled at the southwest corner of Deloss Dodds Way & San Jacinto Blvd on Friday, 9/12, at 4:40pm. Join us as we kick off a special Band Day Weekend celebrating the legacy of Mr. D!
Immediately following the statue unveiling, Band Day check-in will begin at the music building. Head on over to pick up your registration materials, t-shirt orders, and/or instrument rental.
Due to the early start time on Saturday, we strongly encourage all members to check in Friday evening, even if you aren’t able to stay for the Friday Night Tailgate. This will help make Saturday morning smoother for everyone!

The Friday Night Tailgate (FNT) continues to cement itself as an exciting annual tradition during Band Day Weekend! With appetizer, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink, dessert, and merch vendors onsite providing refreshments and entertainment, it’s sure to be a fun evening catching up with friends and getting in the game day spirit 🤘
A few reminders for the FNT:
- Drink tickets will be included in your registration packet when you check in at the music building. BYOB is prohibited for this event. We want all members to enjoy their time, stay safe, and ensure we are able to continue this tradition for years to come!
- Parking is at your discretion. LHAB members who earned parking privileges by renewing their membership at Grandioso or Big Bertha levels will receive separate instructions.
- Please note that the ice cream vendor, Ice Liquor-ème, offers only liquor-infused flavors and is therefore not available to anyone under 21.

We are pleased to announce that Kylie Hernandez will be returning to the FNT stage to provide live entertainment during the evening. Kylie is part of Grammy U, which gives university students across the country access to networking opportunities, events, and more to help them further their careers in the music industry.
Kylie’s career has really taken off in the past year and she has a new single out, titled “To Texas,” which you can listen to here!
Finally, we want to take a moment to thank our wonderful sponsors. Without them, our Friday Night Tailgate wouldn’t be the success that it is. Thank you!!
