LHB LEGACY FUND AND LHAB CHARITABLE FUND – What’s the difference??

You may have heard of the LHB Legacy Fund and wondered how it is different than the Longhorn Alumni Band Charitable Fund. This month, we are adding a history of the LHB Legacy Fund to our website. For an in-depth look at the history and details around these Funds, click here. In a nutshell:

  • The LHAB Charitable Fund exists to provide scholarships to students in the LHB
  • The LHB Legacy Fund exists to provide for the needs of LHB and LHB students, including uniforms, instruments, travel, meals, and also scholarships

The LHAB Charitable Fund provides annual scholarships to LHB Students, and has done so since 1967 when we gave a scholarship to 3 students directly from donations (i.e., no endowed funds). In 2024, the LHB Legacy Fund provided operational support to LHB and scholarships to 27 students from PERMANENTLY ENDOWED FUNDS. You can see what an impact both of these funds has made on Longhorn Band students!

LHB Legacy Fund History
40 for Forty is coming soon!

And EVERY gift makes a difference.

UT’s annual “40 for Forty” campaign will be held in May, and LHAB has a unique track record for reaching many of the campaign’s giving targets, which provide access to matching funds! The more gifts we have in by May 1, the greater chance we have of obtaining those matching funds this year when the LHABCF makes donations during 40 for Forty. In 2024, the LHABCF used the power of 40 for Forty matching challenges to add $35,000 to our total contribution to LHB!

Please consider a fully tax-deductible gift of $125 for LHB’s 125th, or a gift of any amount, by May 1.
