| A note from the Board of Trustees regarding 40 for Forty:
Thanks to our generous membership and some diligent late-night volunteers, the BOT had another successful “40 Hours for the Forty Acres” annual fundraising day.
As always, we try to leverage your donations to earn as much matching money as possible, with all our gifts going to benefit LHB scholarships and support for LHB.
This year, we donated $58,000 from the the Longhorn Alumni Band Charitable Fund using funds donated throughout the year from LHAB members or through LHAB performances, and as a result received $53,000 in matching dollars.
That means we almost doubled the amount raised to benefit LHB students through scholarships, demonstrating again that when you donate to the LHABCF, your gift has much more impact. This year’s total of $111,000 going to LHB scholarship endowments is enough to fund multiple scholarships in perpetuity.
We appreciate every donation, small or large, and are always searching for ways to increase our support for LHB students. The LHAB Scholarship Program started with $50 awards to 4 students in 1967. In 2025, 70 LHB students received scholarships from the LHAB General Scholarship Fund and the Longhorn Band Legacy Fund. There’s much more work to be done, but every year we increase our support for LHB and its students.
Thank you for your continuing support in making this possible!
