| Dear LHAB Members,
Thank you all for responding to the member survey on Band Day 2025. We appreciate all of those that responded, and we do use this information to plan future Band Day events.
The vast majority of members rated Band Day 2025 as a positive experience and enjoyed meeting up with old friends, making new friends, reliving the game day experience, and marching halftime.
We do know that the game date, kickoff time and seat location were not ideal, but we appreciate your understanding that these things are outside of LHAB control.
Many asked why LHAB does not play during our march down to the stadium. Due to the changes in the game day atmosphere, including the addition of Smokey’s Midway and the music on the LBJ lawn, we no longer will play on the march down. Our best chances to play are before the game in the stands and a few times during the game.
Many people also asked about the rehearsal time. Our rehearsal time and access to the Bubble is set as soon as LHB knows their schedule. With LHB’s increased commitments on game day, including parades and other playing requests, that does have an impact on LHAB’s schedule. We will continue to try and make as tight of a schedule as possible for Band Day, but we do have to work with LHB to ensure that both groups have sufficient rehearsal time for game day.
We will also be reviewing our music library and plan to send out a survey on additional stand tunes, particularly seeking suggestions from more recent graduates, that we can include in our playing rotation.
The feedback was very positive on the summer uniform and we may be making some small changes. Most frequently mentioned was looking at the sock color for our summer uniform.
We are going to look at vest returns and make adjustments to make that process go smoother.
We will also look at seating assignments during the game. Many people responded that they did like the “sit with your band sections only rule” for the first half, but also many said that they would have liked to sit with other friends or with family members. We will continue to look at this issue, and will try to do what we think best for the organization.
We are also going to see about having a short meet and greet with current LHB members, singing “Eyes” as a group and photo ops after our rehearsal by decades.
We thank you for your input and look forward to planning Band Day 2026.
Hook ’em!
